I have seen an argument that Bassano was the actual author and that Shakespeare was a broker of sorts. It appears that the claim might have merit, but when you use a photo to depict someone from the 1600's, that's sloppy. What's the POV of your play?
It's fictional, but based on actual, historical events, people, and circumstances. In my play, Shakespeare claims her works as his own, which has unintended disastrous consequences for him.
There's no solid proof that Bassano wrote the plays, but there's far less that he did.
